Beaches of Barcelona
Barcelona has a little more than 4km of coast and in this extension there are a total of 9 beaches. If you decide to go to one of these beaches, you must know that they are well connected with the city center and equipped with the most complete services: showers, surveillance, hammock rental, locker rooms (in some cases) and Chiringuitos !!
People with mobility problems will be able to access them easily as they are provided with adapted public walkways, showers and toilets, …
Another important fact is that all the beaches in Barcelona are cleaned every day throughout the year, and all have the blue flag of the European Union that homologates its excellence. So taking a bath is most advisable when the good weather is already here!
The beaches of Barcelona are:
Sant Sebastià: One of the oldest beaches in Barcelona, along with Barceloneta. It is also the largest.
Sant Miquel: It is located between Sant Sebastià beach and Barceloneta.
Barceloneta: In this beach you will find Espai de Mar, an equipment destined to facilitate the access to the beach and the marine environment, by fomenting the inclusive practice of sport and leisure.
Somorrostro: It is located between the Gas breakwater and Marina pier. As the most important feature of this beach, besides the enjoyment of the bath and the sun, we could say that it has a lot of historical memory. Not many years ago, this stretch of the coast, welcomed the neighborhood of barracks Somorrostro, which came to live about 15,000 people in very precarious conditions.
Part of this beach (in front of the Hospital del Mar), you will find the Centre de la Platja, an environmental education place dedicated to the development of the city’s coastline. This building offers, from March to September, all kinds of activities for all ages: workshops, routes, stories, visits, shows, social gatherings and games. It also offers information and many other services that you can have a look here.
Nova Icària: This beach is considered one of the quietest in the city. It belongs, like the rest of beaches that follow, to the district of Sant Martí.
Bogatell: In addition to enjoying the sun and water, you will also find various leisure facilities, such as ping-pong tables, a soccer field in the middle of the beach and a volleyball area.
Other beaches also very busy, belonging to the district of Sant Martí are the Mar Bella (with nudist zone), the Nova Mar Bella and Llevant.
Besides our beaches, you can also go and have a bath to the Banys del Fòrum where you can sunbath but accessing directly from paved surfaces by stairs.
In general, they are very popular beaches for locals and foreigners, and there you will find several chiringuitos in the sand and on the walking side. On top, you will see that there is a wide gastronomic offer.

Como cada año para el día del Corpus, en Barcelona (también en varios pueblos de Catalunya) se celebra una curiosa tradición, l’Ou com Balla (en castellano, El Huevo cómo baila).
El acto principal de esta celebración es la procesión, la cual contiene dos partes diferenciadas: la festiva, con un pasacalles que recorre plazas y calles del centro de Barcelona y la estrictamente religiosa, que es la procesión del Corpus Christi.
